More pics from the area where I saw the coyote.Still more that 200 yet to find at this location. Another trip soon to find the rest. If you are in the Phoenix metro area and would like to join me on the hunt for the remaining glyphs, drop me an email. I hike this area at dawn on weekends.

I would like to connect with petroglyph hunters in the Phoenix Metro area to help me search out some little known/hard to get to petroglyphs in the surrounding area. I do a lot of research, sometimes a recon trip to check out access to the locations and then hike in the early AM on weekends to find them.
As you know most of the hiking is off trail and involves serious rock hopping. Experienced desert hiking, researching and navigation skills are a big plus.
I have a large collection of site location info and all the BLM maps for most of the state. Lets combine resources and see what we can find.
So, if you are interested in the search contact me via email.
Thanks, Dave

Went for a very early walk last week near South Mountain Park in Chandler AZ. As I crested a ridge just before daylight I saw this glyph by itself on a cluster of rocks. I caught some movement below me and there was a coyote heading up the same ridge. I was downwind and above him, when he saw me struck the same pose! Head and tail up, front feet together. This is the second time I have shared a moment with coyotes at this location.

Welcome to my petroglyph hunting blog. I have had a fascination with petroglyphs for many years. I enjoy the research to locate sites and the hiking to actually find them. I photograph the sites and although I use some of the designs in my business, that is not the purpose of the search. It's a very spiritual feeling to look at rock art hundreds or even thousands of years old and try to understand it's meaning.
I live in the Phoenix Metro area and plan to explore all the local sites before it gets to hot. I hope to connect with others who share a love for these ancient art forms and enjoy a good desert hike.
ONLY PUBLIC SITE LOCATIONS WILL BE POSTED.
NO REMOTE SITE LOCATIONS WILL BE POSTED IN ORDER TO PROTECT THEM FROM VANDALISM.
Some of the public sites I have been to include:
Grapevine Canyon NV
Keyhole Canyon NV -need to go back there
Three Rivers NM
Painted Rocks AZ
Deer Valley AZ
Hieroglyph Canyon AZ
Sloan Canyon NV -need to go back there too
Petroglyph Nat. Monument NM
One of my goals here is to compile a list of little known and seldom seen sites that can be shared among those who appreciate petroglyphs. Please do not post the locations, we will email the info back and forth.
